Join the Team at Bar Lazy J Ranch, the Best in Dude Ranch Employment!
Before you fill out our Dude Ranch Employment application, here are answers to frequently asked questions about eligibility for a position with us, as well as a video that gives a peek into what working at Bar Lazy J for the summer looks like. But of course please reach out with any additional ones you may have or if you have specific questions about any information below.
- While we love all animals, staff horses and pets are not allowed on ranch property for both the safety of our own animals and the safety of yours. In some cases, managers living off the main ranch may be considered to have one dog.
- We would love to be able to hire from out of the country when great applicants come along, but unless you already have a work visa, we have not had luck with that process in a timely manner that allows us to hire and then help obtain you a visa.
- All staff living on ranch must be at minimum 18 years old.
- We truly appreciate the offers, but we are unable to take volunteers or unpaid interns. Our housing only allows for the number of staff we need to hire and our insurance will not cover anyone not on our payroll.
- All staff, with the exception of the kids staff, are needed from mid-May through the END of our season (end of September typically). Kid staff are minimally needed through mid August. Please post the maximum time you are available to work.
- Staff who need request a week or more off during the season will not be considered. While working seasonal work, it’s important to commit to the few months you’re here. If you have a special occasion that may require you to be gone a couple of days, please mention it to us early so that we can make sure it’s something we can accommodate.
- We do not have housing for anyone except our actual staff, so the opportunity to bring significant others is not likely unless they also plan to work on ranch and are hired separately.
